"I originally wanted to be a cartoonist. I still watch cartoons to this day. My film collection includes vast reels of cartoons, some rare, some lost. I’m not sure how this one got separated from the pack, but it never made it to the vault. It’s a pretty rare cartoon and if I may say, not my favorite." - Joe Dante

"Shamrock and Roll" is a 1969 Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies animated short directed by Robert McKimson. The cartoon features Merlin the Magic Mouse and his sidekick, Second Banana, as they travel to Ireland and encounter a mischievous leprechaun who steals Merlin's watch. This six-minute, hand-drawn Technicolor short marked the final appearance of both characters. Larry Storch provided the voices, with music composed by William Lava. Though submitted for the 1969 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, it was not nominated. The short has aired on networks like Cartoon Network, MeTV, and Tooncast.
